For those interested in HS sports, there will be a dynamite game tonight on the NFHS network (paid streaming service) between Folsom High (#5 in the state) vs Mission Viejo (#3). The Folsom qb, Ryder Lyons, is a 5 star recruit that is tremendous.

#5 Rhode Island having trouble with Holy Cross in the 4th quarter. Down 7-6 12:28 left.
Holy Cross just missed a FG.

FWIW, UCLA fired their head coach after 1.3 seasons and an 0-3 start including an embarrassing loss to New Mecico. In the world of buyouts in big time football, this is on the lower end, but still over $5 million.

This is a sad photo. Of course, Cal drew 35000 for Minnesota and Stanford may have gotten 20000 in their stadium vs BC (announced 25000). I think the conference shuffle is really hurting the California schools (of course, winning might help!)

The fact that a 1-2 Sac State is grounds enough to mention Marion as a HC candidate to UCLA, an institution by the way that garners at least a minimal academic standard for its student athletes, is a testament to their unwavering hype train.

"all speculation here..." is right. Marion? lol

Does Royer get paid to write about college football?! That list is humorous, every one of those jobs, including Sac State, is better than UCLA right now. Anyone who leaves a bigtime job for Westwood is insane. They'll find someone who is sitting out this season or a name from the past. No up-and-comer will risk it at UCLA if they smart. Can't win there.

I hope Sac keeps Marrion. I’d rather play against him vs risking Sac getting Taylor back.

After the first quarter of the Mercyhurst game every Sac possession until the last one that was ended by the clock was a TD. They averaged over eight yards a carry.

By mid-season they could be a totally different team.

No way the UW coach leaves UW for UCLA unless he really loves Socal.

The first half was completely weird. To be fair to Mercyhurst, they are much improved and challenged YSU as well.

Once the run game clicked it there were 4 TDs on the ground in a span of 15 minutes. It was impressive.

Mercyhurst plays in a lower-tier conference (not a single, ranked FCS team in the NEC) with a bunch of former non-scholarship FCS programs. Sac should have beaten them worse if they're truly a Top 25-caliber team. Kudos to Mercyhurst for the schedule they play, they are not afraid to schedule-up (Youngstown, Sac, MSU, SDSU).

Not saying it was a high level of competition, but Sacs upcoming games aren’t much either. Wouldn’t be surprised if they win until Montana. Montana, Idaho and Davis are the only teams remaining who they wouldn’t be favored against, and that may change by the time the games are played. At 7-5 or better they are going to make the playoffs, barring selection committee bias against them. Due to their weaker schedule they are better positioned to make the playoffs than Davis.

I agree with you, they should be 4-0 or 3-1 heading into the meat of their schedule. Their game @ Weber State will tell us a lot about who they really are, and Cheney, WA is never a picnic. Their S.O.S. may actually work against them in the selection process, quality does matter to some extent.
