One thing they mentioned on the AGS forum was that every game was at Noon local time. So I wouldn't be surprised if the times aren't accurate.

The ticket office sent a correction email stating the game is at noon.

That's a really weird time. But it's also on the UCD website now too.

For those that go to games, is the view from the front row okay? I'm tall so I usually like getting aisle seats but there are some front row seats in 124 available. Just wondering how the viewing experience might be from there.

Oddly enough in the Stats Perform preseason poll, Davis was #8, Rhode Island #9, exactly their seeding in the playoffs.

I feel like the front row is too close/low. It makes it hard to see the sideline plays since the players on the sideline block the view. But it is fun cheering on the guys who are so close!

How long do season ticket holders have to claim their seats?
  • MTBAggie

Not sure. I'm not a season ticket holder, yet (hoping to fix that for next season). But ticket sales are open to the general public.

I think a big reason why a top 8 seed was so surprising to all of us is because the polls, Sam Herder, every FCS expert, etc. did not predict it. But if we looked at the actual committee's most recent top ten rankings, we'd see the following:

#1 NDSU stayed undefeated (#1 seed)
    #2 MSU beat #3 UM (#2 seed)
#3 UM lost to #2 MSU (#3 seed)
#4 Lehigh stayed undefeated (#5 seed)
#5 Tarleton State stayed a 1 loss team (#4 seed)
#6 SDSU lost to 2 FCS teams not in the committee's top 10 (#14 seed)
#7 Tennessee Tech stayed undefeated in FCS (#13 seed)
#8 Monmouth lost to 2 FCS teams not in the committee's top 10 (did not make the field)
#9 Harvard lost to 1 FCS team not in the committee's top 10 (unseeded)
#10 UCD lost to the committee's #2 team (#8 seed)

Swapping #4 and #5 after they both kept winning, especially w/ #5 escaping in OT yesterday, is strange. #7 dropping to #13 after staying undefeated is strange.

#10 and #3 are the only teams that lost to a team ranked higher by the committee (incidentally, MSU) and so both of them keeping their relative position in the top ten with game-losers dropping out of the top ten actually shouldn't be that surprising. We were leap-frogged by SFA and Mercer, probably because a loss to MSU is still a loss, but with 3 teams above us suffering bad losses, going from #10 to #8 seems pretty fair.

Today's outcome for UCD is not as head scratching as was the committee's decision to keep us in their top ten after we lost to Idaho State.

Thanks folks :) I feel so lucky to have been able to have this experience at Davis, it blew my expectations away. Luckily only moving an hour away back to the north bay so I will be back thats a certainty!

Can we have Sam Young and or Paul Wulff break down NDSU tape in advance to try to spot any weaknesses? That way coaches not distracted from the task at hand.

Kerberos, UCD dropped 4 spots after losing to MSU!!! So why didn't Montana also drop 4? Any explanation why? The result should have been the same UCD drops from 6 to 7 instead of 10. No matter' and no one argued that. Oh that's right it is Montana!!! It was set up to get a second Brawl of the Wild!

Got it, thanks! When I looked an hour later the seats weren’t available for purchase so I figured that meant the transaction went through. But I wanted to be sure.

I was talking about the FCS playoff committee's top ten rankings. UCD dropped in the STATS and Coaches polls after losing to MSU. But the only rankings that matter are the committee's, and it looks like after our loss to MSU + Monmouth, Harvard, and SDSU losing to opponents outside of their top ten, the net result was actually going up 2 spots for the Ags.

    Again, FCS/Coaches poll rankings =/= playoff committee's ranking/seeding decisions.

    From Bob Dunning's Substack column:

If the Aggies prevail in their first game, they will almost certainly be headed to Fargo to take on the defending champion Bison either Dec. 12 or 13.

That matchup, of course, depends on the Bison winning their first game as well against the winner of this Saturday’s game between No. 13 Southeastern Louisiana and Illinois State.

NDSU will no doubt be heavily favored in its first game.

“Who would you rather play than the No. 1 seed?,” Plough asked.

“It would be a great challenge to go to the home of the defending champions, but a great opportunity too.”

Plough was especially happy to have a week off to prepare for the playoffs.

“Any time you can get a bye week at this time of year when you’re pretty banged up is a good thing,” said the Aggie coach.

“I’m especially happy that our guys will now get to go home for Thanksgiving, which wouldn’t have been possible otherwise. We’ll practice through Wednesday this week and then they can go home and we won’t practice again until Sunday.”

Going back to the Connors brothers' medical waiver:

"To get an NCAA medical hardship waiver, an athlete must suffer a season-ending injury or illness, not compete in more than 30% of the season's games (or 33% for Division III), and the injury must occur before the midpoint of the season."

If UC Davis loses against North Dakota state, then I think that would be 4 games out of 13, or 30.8%.
  • movielover

I hope the NCAA would follow the spirit of the law, that number is 30% (not 31%), and let them play.
  • davisguy52

I could be wrong, but I do not believe post-season games count toward total games played. Otherwise, it would severely advantage the teams that make deep playoff runs vs those that don’t.

If i recall correctly Gage Gubrud got an additional year after playing in five games for Eastern Washington in 2018. Eastern played in 15 games that year, and i think but do not know that was the reason he was granted a sixth year.

They deal with integers for the number of games allowed and if .30 times 14 is 4.2 they would treat that as 5.
