Faculty and staff both get UC/Cal State pensions, probably different rates apply.

This is the latest PR debacle for Sac, Taylor can help them save face and get his name cleared so apparent win/win. Will he work for that president is my question. He is candidate #1 and the people's choice. Also the best candidate.

Someone said to expect a conference announcement by end of this week or next?

Taylor has to be #1 target

Richards would be a solid choice as well, but does he even want it?

One thing, and one thing only, will prevent either of them from being hired...

Marion is already at work raiding the cupboard, especially with their skill guys from what I was just told. This is going to be a total rebuild.

Cal and Stanford don't want anything to do with us. We are not on their "level"...that is what they will tell you.

Taylor is the right fit at Sac. Thought he was an outsider going into Stanford, completely different expectations, academic requirements etc. from Sac - it certainly didn't work out very well there for reasons that maybe we shouldn't elaborate on.

I cannot tell you how many alums from those schools reach out to me when we play them. Very well connected alums. We need to get to that level. You think USC would have bought us out if we were FBS?
  • Sailorgabe

No they would have played us. We have everything we need to be a great football school. Great academics, great campus, great small town, I really like the future of our program.

USC's loss IMO. I can't wait till one day we beat them on the field.

that’s a good point. I was thinking of the old days when they taught. I don’t think a pension is a priority in coaches’ decisions

what we are missing is a revenue stream to compete in this new world order of college football.

Nah, I don't buy this argument. The crazy money spending is already starting to dry up. As the economy continue to slide into a recession, you are going to see a ton of pull back in spending across college sports. Truth is, people just don't have the money anymore. If we continue to win and be strategic on who gets to play here, I think we will be fine. We are in the most populated state in the union with a ton of players looking to play. It's not like we are New Mexico St or Nevada.....those are awful places.

    GDP:
    Q2 - 3.8%
    Q3 - 3.8% to 4.2%

Don't forget the BBB kicks in January 1st with lots of business-friendly components that could see us hit 5% GDP.

Discussing recession probabilities on AST. Very on-brand. Gotta love it. Shall we take a poll??

NDSU has a $2M revenue share for football. They, the school, are playing each player roughly $20k. We aren’t doing revenue sharing at all. That’s not NIL money, that’s from the school itself. The top 5-6 FCS schools have a lot more money coming in - hence, more going out. That’s our level. P4 schools will use their TV money to pay out something like $15M for their roster. Again, that’s before the NIL money hits.

Montana drew about 25k to 8 home games; we averaged 10k for 5. Add in their sky boxes, and generous donors and it’s not close. They have over 500 folks donating at least $1000; we recent broke the 100 level. Night and day.

This is what Plough was eluding to when he said something like "how are we expected to beat these guys on a single day when they beat our pants off the other 364?" I believe this was during the Montana State portion of our schedule.

Pointing out the difference between the financial commitment @ Davis vs. Dakotas/Montanas, and that our players deserve more support.

To add to what Dr. Mike said, Rhody pays their guys 20k per year.

$150K per player, or $75K per player given Title IX considerations?

NDSU is heavily recruiting the Midwest, esp Minnesota (over 20 players), ND, and a handful from Texas, Florida, and Illinois. They're not tapping CA heavily.

Surprising more FB alums not contributing $1,000 per year.

schools are free to distribute as they see fit. Expectations are something like $15M to football, $2M to both basketballs and $1M to other sports. Remains to be seen, of course.

Unemployment is way up. Inflation is up. In my opinion, it's Welcome to 1972 and stagflation. That was a heck of a run from 2012 to 2025. A correction is needed and we are just overdue. Hopefully, it won't last too long.
