Looks like late night celebratory cocktails at the Green Valley Resort for us! Short walk from the arena.

Where does the Mountain West have its tournament? Too lazy to look it up I'm afraid.

Also in Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center (which is the home arena of UNLV). Its a pretty cool venue and much closer to the strip than the Big West Championship. Curious what attendance looks like at the games compared to Big West games.

I won't be surprised if Fullerton beats Hawaii.

Hawai’i wins. Fullerton played like trash against us. We just played ever worse.

Watching up close yesterday. I thought Fullerton got away with really physical play, especially on Sevilla. Their frenetic offensive style gets them alot of Ricky tack fouls on offense. I don’t think they are very skilled despite their ability to score. Hoping Hawaii wins

Watching the game on ESPN2, I guess you guys are right. At the half, the two teams have only picked up 11 fouls compared to 51 last night when the Titans muscled their way past the AGs.

Fullerton plays tough d 3-4 feet beyond the 3 point line. Really takes teams out of rhythm. If anyone is watching the game right now. Hawaii is feeling the same thing as Davis last night. Watch how tight they play once they cross half court.

The Titans made a good run to begin the second half, using more of their physical styles of play as evident by the fact that they picked up 15 fouls in the half, but Hawaii is too big and too skilled. Plus, the crowd was full of Hawaii fans who love to go to Las Vegas anyway, so it was almost like a home game for Hawaii. I'll be rooting for the Rainbows to take it to UCI tomorrow. UH is, after all, where I worked for 2 years.

I'm glad that we continue to be playing Hawai'i in the MWC next year. The Aggies and the Bows have established a pretty good rivalry.

the folks planned the MWC in Vegas can’t wait to have Hawaii next year!

There was an article in Vegas paper about the future of tournaments in town with all the change going on. MWC was downplaying losing some of their best teams by touting Hawaii’s attendance, UTEP’s excitement over a better, more accessible location and pointing out that ‘Davis is driving distance to Vegas’.

Big West loses both Hawaii and San Diego - two good draws. But Sac is driving distance!

Big crowd at the Lee Family Forum, at least the side of the arena behind the benches. Hawaii travels bug and I’m guessing a lot of Irvine folk showed up today.

Great game between pretty evenly matched UCI and Hawaii. Defenses are really going for steals, Irvine leads with 6 thefts, to UH's 4, but the Rainbows are up by a slim 31-30 score. Whoever either of these teams might play iin the first round of the NCAAs had better be ready for a tough game.

    #2 Hawai'i goes dancing with a 71-64 win over #1 UC Irvine.

Did anyone watching see the double T that happened as the teams were coming off on a timeout. Hawaii bench player ran out to, what it looked like to me, offer handshakes and encouragement to teammates. Irvine guy pushed him out of the way as the Hawaii ran in front of him - big time flop. I couldn’t understand why the Hawaii guy got the T. It’s not like he ran out during play. I saw Rawlins and Franklin run out the same way Thursday - seemed like something teammates do. Seemed like an odd call

Yes, I thought it was a bad call too. Maybe the refs weren't paying close attention and needed to call something. Anyone think the Eaters have a shot at the NIT?

they had the entire TV timeout to review all the angles we saw, so I can’t figure what the thought process was.

UNLV beat Irvine 75-72 in the first round of the NIT. The score was 73-72 UNLV with 3 seconds to go in the game and the Runnin' Rebels iced it with 2 FT's.

#13 Hawai'i (24-8) plays #4 Arkansas (26-8) at 1:25 pm Thursday in Portland. The Bows are currently 15.5 point underdogs. The game will be televised on TBS.

So the Big West is done to one and Hawai`i's road is a tough one.

There was an article in the Mercury-News this morning about Santa Clara basketball and there trip to the NCAA's vs Kentucky. The Wildcats have an estimated $20M payroll, which is crazy. What is also crazy? The article says that's roughly 10 times Santa Clara's payroll......that is, the Broncos are paying about $2 to their players. We are REALLY going to have to step up our NIL to compete in the MWC, assuming they are on par with the WCC.

I just read an article that pointed out that Indiana spent $32 million on men's basketball this season and they didn't even make the NCAA Tournament. Yes, you definitely need money to compete nowadays but $$$ alone won't insure winning.

No doubt. I hope we have the means to sweeten the pot significantly so that we can compete and win in the MWC.

And then there were none as Hawai`i gets smoked by Arkansas. It was never a contest and even though I've seen teams get behind 15-2 or so in the first 5 minutes, it was obvious that the Razorbacks just had too much athleticism for the Rainbow Warriors. The local paper seemed to be preparing the fans here for it as they lauded the U of A star gurard, Acuff and noted that Calipari makes $8.5 million vs. Eran Ganot's $300k.
