I'll be happy if we come out of this injury free and a spread of 40 or less... Something like 52-14. I just hope it isn't like Washington last season. The optics of another team dropping 70 on you no matter the division or conference differences is never good.

SMU is fast and nasty. The speed difference across the board is what jumped off the screen at me. They are susceptible to interior blitz pressure, which we don't typically do a lot of.

Hopefully they play as sloppy as they did last night

Echoing some concerns / comments by other posters. Really not convinced about Cleeland. I know it’s early, but way too many mistakes against poor to mediocre teams. I feel the seams will really show against a team with some real talent. Would love to see what the other QBs have. Not a complete picture, but Kollock looked good in Spring / Fall and in his few snaps. Why put all our eggs in one unproven basket?

If last years Washington game is any indication, we may see Kollock after the game gets out of hand. Problem is all the QBs have less experience than Cleeland.

I am going to take a stand on this hill: Treynor Cleeland is the best QB in the Aggie QB room. Is he perfect, no. But neither was Saint Caden at this point in his career last season. If you are expecting him to be Caden Pinnick, you are myopic. Tim Plough and Paul Shelton are highly experienced, well-regarded QB coaches. There is no favoritism involved in this decision, they're playing the guy who won the competition. They've seen a large sample size (with practice film) and made a call. Anyone who attended the spring scrimmages could have told you then that Cleeland was going to be the guy. He's better equipped at this juncture to be the operator. Every pass has not been perfect, but he has tossed some dandies in two games. He is not scared in the pocket, he can take a hit and still deliver, and he has thrown some really nice deep balls (several have been dropped). The point of message boards is to express opinions, and I respect all of them even when we don't agree. I feel very strongly about this one and am excited to watch the continued development while Kollock and Eason strive to get back into the competition with whatever reps they get. We have our guy right now though.

I agree with this take. If there's quite literally 1 thing I inherently trust Plough on is QB evaluation. If he thinks Cleeland is the guy, then I'm sure he's the guy. For what it's worth if you take out the first half of the PSU game, he has been very good. I think the foundation is there for him to be an excellent QB.

Cleeland’s true measure will be against Montana. Not a 19th ranked SMU or a Stetson. With ample time Cleeland has made some good throws. He be under duress this Saturday. Nothing substitutes game day experience against a top tier team. The Aggies staff will have the team prepared. Go Ags!

And don't forget, Coach Biggs is VERY high on Cleeland per the wrap-up pod. He's not too shabby as a QB talent evaluator as well.
