The size and speed of SMU will be very challenging for us. I actually don't like games against top FBS powers. I know we need the paycheck but, if the game results in a blowout like Washington last year along with a higher chance of players getting injured, I'm not sure it's worth it.

I base most of my opinion on what I saw in the spring. I like Cleeland. He is a good young developmental player. His play is to be expected at this point in his career. But let’s be honest here, we have played two avg to poor teams and his play has not been earth shattering. It’s been ok. He has shown no running ability with zero rushing yards in two games. He has missed on a handful of throws to open receivers and has been baited into interceptions by DBs. If he cannot run, he will need to be better at his reads and accuracy in the future. Let’s see how he does against superior competition. I still think Kollack is the better overall QB right now.

Cleeland has been baited into exactly one interception; he didn’t see that the guy making the interception was in position to make the play and threw a ball with not enough pace on it. Not unexpected from a player in his second start.
Biggs says Cleeland is among the best that we’ve had at throwing the deep ball, that is high praise as it includes quite a few players that were drafted and played professionally.

Just from my observation from practices, Jackson has the frame and size of a big time QB. His height allows him to see over the line and get balls off more cleanly. I did see him run multiple times with success. He has a pretty good arm too. I think he has the higher ceiling overall.

I’m not advocating benching Cleeland, he is doing fine, but I’m also not buying the hype of his performances being “the best Aggie QB to…” throw a deep ball, run, lead etc. Because for every good throw he makes, he also misses on others that should be routine. The next three games should provide more insight.

FS scored all 32 points in the 2nd quarter. Sac had some ugly roughing and unsportsmanlike penalties and look undisciplined as usual...some things never change...

Aggies should be encouraged by how NDSU, Montana Stats, And Illinois State are playing against the MW today. It shows we can compete when we move up.

Massey now has Sac State ranked as the 2nd worst FBS team in the country. Their fans on twitter are already calling for the coach to be fired and to bring in Troy Taylor. I know Taylor has deep connections with Sac State, but I'm not sure if he would look at their situation favorably. It's starting to look like career suicide at Sac State.

Sac State wasn’t even a top FCS program. They weren’t goin to compete early like NDSU. It may have still been good foresight to get into the FBS while they could before realignment started.

Next steps for them are to get facilities in order and good recruiting/ transfer portal classes.

If the mountain west were smart, they would prioritize getting UC Davis, Montana, and Montana State. I think those 3 programs would be competitive in their conference.

Frankly I don't see them competing... Ever. I simply do not believe in any of their plans for building success. From the start of their journey to the FBS it has been nothing but over promising and under delivering.

I still stand by previous statements that I have made that there is a better chance of their football program folding financially than ever having consistent success in FBS.

Sac was arguably a top FCS program when Troy Taylor was there. Rather than rebuild a program the old fashioned way, they blew it up after an injury plagued season in 2024, with a wholesale turnover. They threw away the success they had for the previous five years

Sac is spending 23 million in fees to join the MAC, with no revenue sharing from the MAC, and must pay visiting teams travel expense. How is that sustainable? And they still need facilities. I was surprised they recruited as well as they have, once the novelty wears off recruiting is going to be harder.

Looks like Sac may be hosting the ESPN/Bottom 10 Pillow Case Fight of the week in a couple of weeks when they host Massachusetts. UMass was pretty much a unanimous pre-season pick to be the worst team (138 of 138) in the NCAA/FBS this season, but pulled off a season opening upset at Rutgers of the Big Ten and followed up with a victory over winless Sacred Heart of the FCS Coastal Athletic Association. Next up for UMass are the Stonehill Skyhawks who are 1-2 and play in the FCS NEC. Slack meanwhile hosts North Dakota State who already have a FBS and MWC conference win over Air Force.

hey. I’m not a sac state fan or do I think that will have success. I just think that it was a smart move to get into the FBS before realignment happens.

They only have a 5 year membership agreement with the MAC. In order for them to have the possibility of being successful they need to get their facilities in order and have a strong refuting class.

I think Davis is doing the right thing in getting facilities in order before the move to FBS. They have the practice facility, now it’s time for stadium upgrades.
