I have for decades hated that we almost never stop anybody from getting first downs when they’re pinned deep in their own territory, college teams tend to play loose when they have a lot of field behind them or a big lead. That’s irritating but maybe the smart move.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a happy camper with the season. Our D has come a long way. Let’s hope we keep rolling today.

I know Weber has a semi-rivalry with ISU that they usually win and with SUU leaving they have options. However, having them as a protected rival makes no sense from our perspective. We are one of the few teams with two pre-existing rivals and most (excluding Montana, EWU, UI, Weber until SUU leaves and ISU) all just have one. Sac I think is written in the current schedule to always have our game in the last week now.

If CP stops playing us, they lose their only real rival. I do like that they get to play Sac too but it will take a long time before they view their rivalry with Sac like they do with Davis. They already take us more seriously than we take them (of course they are a top draw when they play here and the team get hyped but its not the same as beating Sac State).
