The Mercer game counts in this context, so @NDSU would be 14 total games.

According to Gubrud's situation, postseason games do count:

    https://www.heraldnet.com/sports/former-ewu-qb-gubrud-wins-appeal-will-transfer-to-wsu/?

"The NCAA states that a player is eligible for a medical redshirt if he played in one-third or fewer of his team’s games. Only because the Eagles advanced to the national title game — and thus played in 15 games — did Gubrud qualify."

Gubrud's initial application was also denied, but for a different reason -- he was applying for a 6th, not 5th, year, and that requires showing 2 seasons ended due to injury in addition to satisfying the 30% rule. He appealed his denial and ended up playing for WSU in 2019.

So assuming Mercer counts as one of four games played out of a 12 game regular season, and the Aggies win their 13th game on 12/6 to play a 14th game in Fargo the following week, there seems to be a really good chance that the twins will get their medical redshirt approved. #WinForTheTwins

I think somebody might have mentioned it but rest is huge here. Yes, it kind of sucks that if we win our game, we get NDSt in the QF, as opposed to, say, a 12 or 13 seed where you avoid NDSt and the Montanas until the semis. But even eliminating the fact that we can't lose this upcoming weekend because you can't lose a game you don't even have to play, the fact that our guys get a week to recover while our opponent has to play is massive.

I can't tell you how excited I am that Davis gets the opportunity to go to NDSU in the playoffs. These kinds of opportunities are rare. They are program changing games. I know, I know the odds...but just for a second think, if Davis went up to NDSU and BEAT NDSU do you know how much publicity that would give the program? Will it be hard? Sure, but we have a chance and to me that is what its all about. Go Ags!

Tennessee Tech got screwed. I know the OVC is pretty weak but I don’t know how you drop 6 spots with the same committee unless something drastic happened. It must have been the loss to SEC Kentucky.

Who would we prefer to play in our first game? Rhode Island (10-2) or Central Connecticut (8-4)?
  • DaddyAggie

Central Connecticut is pretty bad. They’re only in due to an autobid from the Northeast Conference. According to Sagarin, they’re below every Big Sky team outside of N Colorado and Portland St.

Is the option to buy tickets for students only available to season ticket holders?
  • DrMike

I don’t see that option on the regular ticket link. You can probably call the ticket office and do it that way. I assume they figure only regular donors would purchase them but at $5 a shot, they might get a boarder audience

Not that it's worth all that much, but Massey has a matchup tool. It gives Davis a 65% chance of winning against the Rams with a predicted score of 30-24. I'll take it!

Forecast accuracy is about 50% twelve days away, so it's going to be pretty bad.

    Anyway, I see this:
Considerable cloudiness; a shower in spots in the morning followed by a little rain in the afternoon

I'lll trust forecast accuracy more at the seven day mark which should be about 80% accurate.

check tropical tidbits or pivotal weather. You can check the GFS, ECMF, and the GDPS/GEM (Canadian). Those three are the most common ones for North America.

You can select "precipitation and moisture."

I agree- great opportunity. NDSU is probably the only team non-FCS fans will tune in to watch. That's a big deal!

Go to your season tickets renew tab. Click that and when you purchase your playoff tickets you will have the option of buying student tickets. I bought $100 worth for the kids.

NCAA / Stan Becton (Facebook post) predicts we lose.

" No. 9 Rhode Island at No. 8 UC Davis
    Winner: Rhode Island

"Rhode Island knocks off UC Davis in an 8-9 sedd battle. While I like UC Davis’ freshman quarterback Caden Pinnick, the Aggies have a suspect defense. Meanwhile, Rhode Island has an experienced offense led by quarterback Devin Farrell and wide receiver Marquis Buchanan.

"The URI offense gets the job done."

And he doesn't factor in no bye (for RI), less time to prep, traveling 3,000 miles, and a #79 SOS.

Rhode Island gets some quality transfers and recruits. Similar to Idaho, in that they can get guys rated in the upper range of 3 stars particularly as transfers
They have QB who threw for over 3,000 yards, and a big running back who transferred from Temple gained 1000 yards. Their backup running back was a seldom used Stanford running back..
However Davis' defense is better than Beckton suggests, since they now have their entire starting lineup back except the Connors. Massey's ratings have Davis better than Rhode Island on both offense and defense.

  • Riveraggie

No, but playing. His big stop on the last drive was where he came in on a wholesale d line substitution. They have been playing all the two deep guys.

They struggled to beat Holy Cross (9-7), and lost to Brown.

    Two big RBs (220#s), and 3-4 tall WRs (6'2" - 6'3").

Three hours from Kevin Daft. (Is in person scouting helpful?)

Wow. A lot riding on this RI game then. It still amazes me Mercer is counted against eligibility

i think in person scouting is not permitted. That was part of the Michigan sign stealing infraction

How do coaches plan for the first game especially if playing against a new coaching staff?

I'm thinking about the Portland State game next year.
