Northern Colorado would look really impressive if they played Rhody's schedule from this season. Look, I don't want to dump on them too much (especially since our game hasn't been played yet and schedules are made in advance), but the facts are that the CAA just isn't that strong of a conference and even within the conference they missed most to all of the hard hitters. It would be like if we had a season where we didn't play either Montana and then claimed we were world beaters.

For me Massey matchup tool says a most likely score 31 to 24' 72% Chance of Davis winning.

Time slot. The Pacific Time zone is empty for the east coast. If we can become successful we can dominate the tv slot. Similar to what USC/UCLA used to do pre2008.

Watching Rhody on offense, can't help but think it's a lot like Davis - they run a lot of multiple sets, and they expect a lot out of the Quarterback.

I think we're in for a dogfight against URI - better be ready to go right away, because they'll be ready, and they played last week, we'll be coming in cold but rested, so we better take the advantage the Committee gifted us on selection day and find paydirt.

It's going to be a 4 quarter game, Ags need to be sharp!

From the little I saw the QB has an arm. I hope we start strong, and keep TOs minimal. Hopefully the rest and home cooking prepares us for the stretch run.

If any Rhode Island fans are reading this, don't be afraid to share and speak your mind respectfully. We don't play East Coast teams often so it will be nice hearing your opinion. Please don't be scared by our talk. We are nice here.

We bought tickets last weekend when they went on sale. Didn't expect the game to be moved to 7 p.m. Last year, I believe, was an early afternoon game. Told my daughter, who is 8, that the game got moved to 7 p.m. She asked if she could still go. I said yes and she got excited solely because she immediately knew it meant she could stay up past her normal bed time.

Tickets aren't disappearing as quickly as I would hope. Gotta have a big week of sales to make this crowd look good.

Well they are going to have to come over here if there's to be discussion because none of us have been able to successfully register on their forum lol. I signed up and it said that I needed to activate the account through an email that was apparently sent to me (it wasn't) and the button to re-send the activation email says you have to wait 24 hours. Talk about not user friendly.

Hey Aggie fans - not sure why you can't get on our board but happy to chop it up in advance of the game. It's a rare occurrence for us to end up on national TV so hoping we show up and give you guys a game.

We're looking forward to it! Not too often we get a far west and far east playing in the FCS that is.

do you think many Rhody fans are going to make the trip out west?

Hmm...define many? I would guess it will be a friends and family group if any. Our football fans are diehards given we suffered about 2-3 decades of absolute shit before our current HC turned around the program about 5-6 years ago. Also on Saturday at noon we face off in basketball against our most bitter in state rival, Providence College. So it's setting up to be either a day of massive highs or massive lows!!

gotcha gotcha, I'll at least wish you guys luck in basketball... Maybe not so much in football haha. In all honesty, I don't really consider a loss in the 2nd round of the playoffs a failure for maybe any team not named NDSU. Regardless of how the game plays out I think both programs look like they are on the rise.

Agreed us FCS schools gotta stick together with the big bad FBS trying to pillage anything in their way. I look forward to seeing how we match up against a team from a better league. CAA was once mighty but has certainly lost equity with the departure of JMU, Delaware and Richmond.

We will need an A+ game from our QB Devin Farrell. He's a Va Tech transfer who has been really good since taking over the role last season. He got hurt at tail end of last year or IMO we would have beaten Mercer in FCS playoffs (lost 10-7 with our backup who was a big step back). He's mobile and throws a really good deep ball. Our top WR is Marquis Buchanan. RI native, was Gatorade POY in football and basketball his senior year. He likely will have FBS options for his final year of eligibility - 6'4 with good (not great) speed. Back to back 1k yard seasons. In the backfield we have a sorta fire and ice combo - Littleton is a bulldozer at 230lbs (Maryland / Temple transfer) and Barrow is a former Stanford player who seemingly was hurt his entire time there and has been coming on strong in the back half of this season. He's smaller but very quick through the hole and a tough runner.

On defense we revolve around AJ Pena. Probably the best defensive player in the history of the school. Holds school record for sacks and is a handful off the edge. He left last year to Memphis in Spring but changed his mind over the Summer and re-enrolled back at RI for his final year of eligibility. In this era of mercenary athletes we should build a shrine to him outside our stadium because he for sure could have just stayed in FBS. Our top corner Ayinde Johnson is really good too, as is DL Case Mankins (son of New England Patriot O linemen Logan Mankins). I have concerns about our D and O line against better opponents so that will be something to watch.

I'm more a hoops guy than football guy but that's my quick scouting report hope it helps.

Thanks for the run down! The story of the season for the Aggies has been injuries. We've had A TON of notable season ending injuries on both offense and defense, but we've somehow crawled across the finish line of the regular season.

How's your FR QB? You don't see too many FR quarterbacks these days with all the transferring but his stats are impressive. Are you balanced on offense or do you throw / run more?

One thing that hurts attendance is the NCAA rule about no free tickets. I think we’ll get plenty of student tickets donated (just need them used), but we lose out on the Jr Aggie kids who normally get a free GA. Parents might balk at buying them a ticket especially for a night game, so the berms will be empty.

They are balanced, but more rushing plays than passing plays, more yards passing. They are second in the conference in passing yardage, and third in rushing yardage.
Pinnick is gifted, Like your guy he is evasive, and has a strong arm. Pinnick completes 69% of passes for 9.5 yards per attempt. He has givens up quite a few sacks because he extends plays. Stats are for the eight Big Sky games.

Back to tickets for a minute - my tickets were not showing up as downloadable. Call the office and they told me that tickets via season ticket ‘renewals’ were coming soon ( I guess they wait to see who did or didn’t renew). But they are sending me links now so I can get tickets to friends.

So if you don’t haven’t received an email with a link to download it’s probably coming….but you might call just in case!

Looking forward to a good game. I like the efficiency of your offense. I will say this about this Ags. You’re in for a good game because we play exactly to our competition’s level. We played tough with Montana State but I'm convinced we’d have problems putting away our local community college lol so close game ahead and safe travels

Was I the only one who got up, grabbed their coffee, watched GameDay, then switched over to ESPN+ and selected the Rams of Rhode Island vs. the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils? It was hard on the eyes; the end zone camera wasn't white balanced, shadows everywhere, everything looked blue, the cameras couldn't eliminate the turf glare, it was painful. The only thing missing was the UC Davis Football press conference audio set-up and it would have been an absolute disaster!

I stomached one quarter of that game. URI got off to a fast start and CCSU couldn't get out of their own way. I switched over to The Game and only went back to Rhode Island a few more times. And every time I did, C. Connecticut was within a score. The entire game, they just sort of hung around. They even had a chance towards the end, but the QB couldn't reach the end zone on their Hail Mary attempt (announcers blamed the wind) and the game mercifully ended.

Here are my takeaways: this might be the best QB we have seen. Dude is cool, he extends plays, and he has a whip for an arm. Wind didn't bother him at all when I was watching. Receiving corps is a good looking group of dudes. Offensive Line looked undersized except at Left Tackle. Shorter guys, but they are a very solid unit and looked like good pass blockers. Tailback has numbers but didn't scare me.

Defensively, #8 is a dude. He can play. Reminded me of a slightly smaller version of #45 from Sac. He can rush the passer, play the run, drop into coverage, very versatile. Other than that, nothing stood out. CCSU didn't have a running game; RB was average, no real Tight Ends, weren't really committed to it. Central Connecticut attempted 62 passes and were only sacked once. One pick and no fumbles. From what I saw as a casual fan, they play sort of a bend-don't-break style of Defense, they play hard, but they are not overly impressive.

I like the 81% chance. Feels like at least a one TD margin, but I won't be surprised if it is closer. Don't discount the impact of that kickoff time either. We need to fill that place up and show well on TV. The Ags really responded to the energy and environment last home game. I doubt we can replicate, but playing at night in the Pacific Time Zone is a huge advantage.

Stoked we got a Rhody fan on here educating us wine drinking snobs on the Rams. One great source of information on the Ags is of course from the most amazing Aggie Pride: A UC Davis Aggie Football Podcast - mouthful of a name - but has all the current sentiments and dirt on what's happening in UC Davis Football world. We invite all URI fans to check it out!
