This will be first conference rematch, the Aggies having defeated the Matadors 89-80 on New Year’s day. Conner Sevilla went 5 for 10 from long range and scored 23 points. Like UC Davis, CSUN has had an up and down season, but unlike the Ags they usually beat the teams they should beat and lose to the better teams. The only exception being an upset vs. UCSD in La Jolla. As it stands now, they are right on our tail as far as the Big West standings go. The Matadors still try to win with offense averaging over 80 ppg but allowing about as many. In seven of their last nine games they have allowed over 80 ppg. including 90 to Cal Poly and 89 to Hawai`i on Jan. 24. It is worth mentioning, however, that in league play they are 3-1 at home. The Aggies need to win this one badly to offset their two losses in Davis and keep up with the pack.

Wilson is an important player for us. He’s a true freshman. Hoping the Les treatment and all the yelling doesn’t push him out.

Agree. Don't want to see him play with one eye toward the bench, worrying about a mistake. Stokes seems to be in that mode right now on the offensive end, although I really like what he gives the team in terms of rebounding and defensively - he plays bigger than his size.

It seems like Wilson might be the lightning rod for the team when we get into a funk. The last couple of games I just didn't see him do anything that egregious that would lead to a tongue-lashing (UCSD) or late game benching (UCR). I will point out that we were up 10 (52-42) with 11:22 to go when he was sent to the bench....2:30 minutes later is was 52-48. Just sayin'. He only had 1 turnover, so I am assuming that his lapses were on the defensive end?

I didn't see Wilson do anything particularly egregious either. I think Les yanked him just after he got double teamed at half court and they stole the ball for a layup.

I was talking with a friend of mine who was sitting behind the Aggie bench at the UCR game. He commented that "Les is a really tough coach and he's pretty hard on the players during the game." He specifically said that Les really got into Wilson.

We all know Les is super competitive and he expects his team to play with 100% effort 100% of the time and that he is especially critical about what he sees as a lack of defensive effort and aggression. My wife said she noticed that our players generally just keep walking on by him if he's barking at them as they come to the bench. I think he could get his message across without such a high level of intensity.

I agree. I played ball in high school and had coaches like that. Never was the way to get the best out of me.

I’ll be at the game. Hoping we win

Starting out as a shoot-out. 20-13, UCD after only 5 minutes. At this rate, the Ags will easily hit triple digits.

It’s neck and neck which is worse - the announcers or the camera work

I vote for the camera work. It's amatuerish.

7-10 from the arc. 36-34 at the 8:00 mark. Their FT shooting is helping us, our turnovers helping them.

48-44 at the half after we screw up the last possession and they hit desperation 3. Would feel much better at 50-41, but nothing is easy with this group.

We’re getting killed in the paint 20-10, but their FT shooting of 3-9 (several on front end on 1-and-1) have really hurt

Te difference in the game is literally the free throws of which the Ags have made 4 more. The turnovers are starting to even out, but the Ags have been pretty sloppy with their passing. One thing the Ags are doing is tying up the ball on defense. I don't think those count as turnovers because of the alternating possessions, but if all of the tie-ups are by the Ags on defense it is effectively a turnover, no?c

the last possession was off a rebound so that wouldn’t be a turnover. But, yeah, if a guy dribbled into a tie-up, that should be a turnover on the change of possession.

We gave up too many easy buckets under the hoop, especially when they beat us down the floor. That has to stop.

It's getting ugly and Matadors now making free throws. The Aggies have depth but really lack discipline on both ends of the court.

Lousy start to the half, outscored 11-2, down 55-50 at the 16:00 mark. That stupid sequence at the end of the half really changed things.

Nico on the bench with 3 fouls and 3 point shooting getting ice cold

I've lost count but it feels like CSUN has gotten a lot of And Ones thanks to Ags lazy defense.

I take back what I wrote earlier, the commentators are as bad as the camera work was. The camera work has improves, the commentators remain very biased.

At the 4:24 minute mark left, the Ags have scored only 16 points in the second half and trail by 18. This one is over.

Are the commentators even allowed to signal to the coach for going for the coach’s challenge??!

CSUN simply beat the pants of us tonight. This team is going to have to battle very hard in order to even finish in the middle of the pack in the Big West.
