Elite facial hair. The feet aren’t great and needs to learn where to put his hands. Should have drawn holding flag on 50% of his hudl snaps.

Elite facial hair and mane. He has a lot of options when the o-line decides on what their "look" is going to be for the season. Time honored tradition. EVERY offensive lineman needs to redshirt unless they are a portal guy that's been coached right. Even the Juco linemen need that year/

Eli Simonson started the first college game he ever appeared in, he never saw action at Nebraska. You might say he redshirted elsewhere, but I think you meant they needed a year in the system, or played at this level or higher. Going back a few years Jake Parks started as a true freshman here.

You're catching my drift; Simonson spent a year being coached by the Nebraska OL Coach, the Assistant OL Coach, and the OL GAs, meaning, he spent a year being coached at the highest level of college football whether he redshirted or not. I hear they're not bad in the weight room out there, either.

Parks is an outlier. Dudes like that are a rarity. Freshman all-American on two all-American teams. Long career with many starts. Hell of a player, college ready coming out of the best high school league in California, arguably the nation. He is the exception. And I know there have been others. But talk to Cody or any other OL coach in the country and they will likely agree that it would be a luxury to redshirt EVERY offensive lineman they sign.

Regarding a year in the system, perhaps. That helps with all the calls and communication, plus it gives them training camp to learn the techniques then go play scout team against the first D. From a strength and conditioning/physical standpoint, most big HS OL, as well as the bulk of transfers, need their body transformed in some way, shape, or form before they're "college ready". I would argue that the physical development, regardless of the measurables they come in with, is the #1 priority in developing young OL. The rest (system, communication, techniques) will follow with time.

Just my two cents, I love talking about the big fellas.

Who projects as the Ags starting Left Tackle in '26?

Looks like Parks is a lifer. Studded out in Finland, now with the Green Bay Blizzard and playing at 305 pounds.

With that mullet he's looking a lot more Green Bay than Huntington Beach! I love the fact that he's still playing, why not?! We need some Blizzard #55 jerseys, or else something from the Helsinki Roosters. Thanks for the link, made my day!

Haven't seen anything from the official Davis football account, but looks like we got a commitment from Robert Meyer, a transfer portal kicker from Missouri! GO AGS!

Out of high school he had offers from Fresno State, Missouri, Oklahoma State, and UC Davis

Kickers aren't always flashy gets but a kicker who's kicked in SEC environments and has a sure leg as far as I know sounds like a great addition!

Not notable, but kind of weird that we have 2 Jacks and 2 Jacksons coming in this recruiting class. Year of the Jack.

Kollock, Herman and Sylvester jump out to me.

Are any other guys big-time steals?

Gilbreath had some impressive offers and is a x3 all state

Outstanding group! Kudos to the coaching staff, they put so much effort into recruiting and it is paying off with Top 5-10 classes every year. Davis guys...

PACIFICO's 5-CENT NEW AGGIE SIGNEE EVALUATIONS:

I think Gilbreath and Sylvester are the steals of the class...

Gilbreath will play early. 6' 185 as an freshman FCS corner is BIG. Faulkner is nice as well. And he hits, which you don't always say about Corners. The CB from San Bernardino is quality depth, will redshirt.

The Idaho Safety (John) fits a very specific need on the back end. Big cat that will fill it up and can deal with Big Sky TEs. And he's played in the Conference. He's a sleeper.

Kollock had crazy high school numbers. He's going to be in an absolute dogfight with Cleeland, maybe even Eason, we'll see. Shout out to SailorGabe. GREAT problem to have for Plough and Shelton. My early money is on Cleeland vs. PSU.

Looking at the film, both Sylvester and Herman are dudes. More dudes to go with some dudes already in the RB room. Dudes everywhere. The new Running Back coach will be happy.

Houseworth the Cal/Fortuna TE is a load! Classic, in-line run blocking TE that might surprise in the passing game but doesn't have to for another year.

JUCO LB Knudtson is a downhill guy, rangy, but only had 36 tackles in 11 games last season. Why? I obviously don't know the scheme he played in, and he has a good frame. Should be in the mix to play or back up depending on what the returners are like. The two young LBs will need to develop and are probably redshirts unless something happens. Not convinced the Johnson kid doesn't end up playing some Safety but we'll see. Nice athlete. The Portland kid will be a player eventually, he's all over the field.

I like the fact that we got into Hawaii with Honebein. Uses his hands well and has a motor. Redshirt. The kid out of Colorado is long and gets off like he's shot out of a cannon, but doesn't use his hands yet. Some vet will cave his chest in July and he'll figure it out at some point. Redshirt. Both of these cats are high caliber outside guys, we'll see them on the field in 2027 or 28.

As for the WRs, Parnell is 6'4" or something, will likely be a "tweener" WR or Hybrid Y. Not a burner but good ball skills at 6'4". Fay from Manteca is quick and has some giddyup.

Don't have time to go into the weeds on each of the OL signings but I trust Cody. None of them should see the field until their year 3/RS Sophomore season at best. That's the sign of a healthy program. Maybe I'll go back on them and evaluate the unit at some point as the dog days of a late spring ball start day drag on...

Just got home from the signing party. Great group. The room was packed. I enjoyed visiting with Paul Sheldon and Matt Coombs. Both are terrific guys. Tim didn’t talk about every recruit, but highlighted several. Overall, they are very excited about this class of Aggies. There was a lot of discussion about NIL money. One problem that Tim has discussed several times is that players often don’t have the money to pay their summertime rent. Apparently an apartment complex stepped up and is offering football players free rent in July and August if they rent the rest of the year. Lots of enthusiasm this afternoon.

[ Plough is more willing to burn freshmen’s redshirt year than Hawkins was. I think the new transfer rules make it likely that if a freshman is talented, that fifth year is going to benefit some other team. The top two 247 rated freshmen in this years class are edge players, i wouldn’t be surprised to see one not redshirt. Same for any other position if a freshman can get on the two deep.

I agree with you about their willingness to burn a season early on. I was just looking at 3-4 clips of their highlight films from high school when I was doling out REDSHIRT tags. Those Edge players may be highly-rated, but neither one of those guys are ready right now. Who knows with a great summer session and maybe some doors opening ahead of them on the depth, but neither one is ready to deal with a 21 year old Division 1 dirtbag Offensive Tackle as of today! A kid like Few from last year's class came in at like 6'5" 240 and only played sparingly on the strong side until late in the season. He also played against a much higher level of high school competition and had more of a college ready body. I may be wrong, and I am all in favor of young guys playing IF they're the best guy and they're ready. The couple clips I watched on each told me they would both benefit tremendously from a year in the weight room and learning their craft. I'm not too proud to admit it if they prove me wrong, I just looked at a small sample size. Both have VERY bright futures ahead of them!

Summer housing is the key to success. If they aren't able to keep the best players in town, all day every day from the end of spring quarter to the start of training camp, They're not committed to competing for a national title. Period. Great to hear about the one apartment complex, hopefully they can find more to follow. Same with summer jobs, meals around town, etc. Someone is hopefully pounding the pavement to get all of that lined-up, then taking care of the two deep roster.
