Very true. And I'm sure our coaches express the difference between "committable" and "non-committable" offers, and UCD strikes me as the type of place that would only make committable offers.

Sounds like we're seeing the same thing...

    Wow!

“The trajectory of the program is what led me to commit to Davis! They're joining the FBS in 2029, with the chance of winning FCS national championships before then. As well as the plan they had for me, playing early and playing a big role early was also big for me. I love the coaches, the offense, and I think the program is going to make history, and I want to be a part of that.”

"They also showed how they are going to FBS in 2029 and joked about the Mountain West, even potentially the Pac-12. I was able to meet with running back Jordan Fisher, and it was great to pick his brain and hear his thoughts on the school and his goals.”

“Recruiting has been very good. I’ve talked to a lot of big schools, and there were a lot of other offers I haven’t even posted, mostly because I was happy with what I had and my options.”

2029 feels like eternity. We have to go through the '26-'27 season, the '27-'28 season, and the '28-'29 season first.

An FCS National Championship during those year's would make the time go by a whole lot quicker!

Sounds like Dukes is a special talent.
This sentence is an example of the foolishness of taking player rankings at face value. “ the Rivals Industry Ranking has him as the No. 1716 overall prospect nationally, the No. 127 running back, and No. 174 player in California“. What that doesn’t tell you is that only one service in the industry ranked him, rivals, and the others in the ranking , 247, and espn didn’t evaluate him. So the one evaluation he has was super high, an 87, but the non evaluations brought down his rating. It is meaningless to average evaluations that weren’t done.

    I doubt he’s still here in 2029

I think it's too early to say. I think as a whole Davis is still navigating this NIL era of FCS football better than a lot of programs. I think we've managed to hold on to some players that definitely would have left other FCS programs. Rex, Porter, Cofield, Gbatu, etc. I don't know if we will be FBS by 2029 and frankly I think it's a dangerous game to be telling recruits that specifically, but if it's true then it gives recruits incentive to not transfer.

Who knows though. Things remain crazy in college sports.

His own post on X says he is 6'3 260 with 11" hands and 14 D1 offers and a 4.4 GPA but 247 Sports shows him as 6'2 230.

Some big commits recently! 247 has seemed less accurate the past few years..

LeFan posted that many of the 247 staff that did the ratings moved on. The guy who gave Dukes an 87 rating for Rivals had just prior been with 247

Whatever Dukes’ rating, he attended a UCD camp in 2025, in addition to his latest visit, so bith sides are making a well informed decision.
