The 1st-5th year label makes the most sense to me. No more redshirts, or even Frosh-Senior because with differing academic advising etc. it really doesn't tell the whole picture these days either.

The most important thing is to have a method and apply it uniformly. If Cleeland, Eason and Guess are sophomores so is Kollock. If Jordan Fisher is a senior, so is Gologowski. Either get rid of the redshirt label or give it to everyone who qualifies.

Agree 100%. The website maintenance does not match the excellence of the program.

i think we will see a HUGE improvement in special teams with the addition of a dedicated coach. Plough was raving about vonAppen in the spring. We can't afford to have a game lost to special teams, or allow teams to stay in a game due to terrible kick off coverage.

You are spot on. The fact that we made the move to add a dedicated STC to the staff shows a level of commitment from the University. To hire a guy with Defensive Coordinator experience within the conference is just as impressive.

Not-so-bold prediction: former QB turned WR Guess will become an elite return man. Not saying when, but watch out!

That would be fun to see. I like zack jones at return man too

Seems like we have a deep stable with several options. Great returners make special teams so much more special

I wonder when's the last time we returned a punt or kickoff for a TD?

    Great question for AI:

Kickoff: Lan Larison vs EWU on 11/13/21
Punt Return: Trent Tompkins 9/11/21 vs. USD

Just pulled up the SLO fame from last season on YouTube and there was a number 14 at wide receiver on on several plays. My hunch is that it was Scott Nixon switching jerseys from his normal 24. As it was an away game fewer Aggies would have suited up so maybe 14 (Eason’s) number was available.

    Congrats on the good memory.
In the box score for that game they have 14 mapped to Scott Nixon,. They do the same in the game notes for that game Eason doesn’t appear in the Cal Poly game notes. By the regular season game against Sac, Eason has #14, Nixon has 24.

With fall camp started, hopefully the roster gets updated soon. I know website maintenance was already discussed, but strange for us to be starting our first practices and our new players aren't even on the listed 2026 roster... just the couple freshman who got to campus early.

Haha! I shared your sentiment and held my breath anytime we kicked off. At this level of college football, there should be very few kickoffs that don't reach the end zone. No excuse for mishits; it's comparable to throwing an interception.

It’s always interesting to see if all the signees show up. But I’m ok if it takes a week if they want to have accurate height and weight and a photo.
