I honestly don't care if the announcement comes out - I just think that for Davis to be legitimate there needs to be measurable facility upgrades each season, starting with Football - not starting on the Club Boxes by next February and finishing them for the 2027 season seems like a total failure in my eyes.

I could see that for the other side.

Not going to happen. Would already be through the Regents if that was the case. Also remember those boxes have no ROI. The beer garden pays for itself and starts generating NIL funds within 2 years.

how would the boxes not have any return on investment??? That doesn’t make sense. The school is building it with donated money, meaning the school will be able to funnel the proceeds of the ticket sales directly back into the program.

They are premium box and club seats, so they will make more money than beer garden tickets. ALSO, the new club is designed to host events year round. For example, My HS prom was hosted at Cal Memorial Stadium in their club. Davis can host events year round at their club too.

It’s pretty simple. There isn’t a donor in place to fund the project and there isn’t demand to lease the suites. If CMS hosted a few more proms maybe Cal football would be in the Big Ten.

Main problem #1. No money, no buildey.

Lmao, does anyone have any sources on where we’re at with funding the renovation, other than guesswork?
  • Akiltopmack99

How does ANYONE know that there hasn’t been people donating towards the renovation. Why, because it hasn’t been announced that building has commenced?

Historically we get a big media releases when there is a donation...like with Aggie Stadium, and Edwards.
All we've seen is an email and campaign asking for us to pay for it, right? It doesn't appear that there is big money pouring in. I'm pretty sure we'd be hearing all about it.

We seem to be lacking much, if any, corporate interest.

ok, thanks for the explanation. Hopefully things are different.

Typically there is a silent fundraising period. A colleague in the field told me the former standard was 30% to 50% of funds have to be raised before any announcement, and often 1/3 comes from one big donor.

FTR, even w hosting the Big Game, Stanford averaged 28,000 fan attendance last year.

I emailed the department and asked and they said we are currently working through our fundraising period and will share an update with the public when possible

In my experience, nothing is announced without a degree of funding secured. That % differs by project, scope, and institution.

Here is my AI design attempt for the next step of Aggie Stadium.

North End Zone- Beer Garden, mix of permanent bar and food trucks

South End Zone- keep as grass. I would add Redwoods behind the score board. It is a pet peeve of mine that we did a half ass try to add Redwoods but some died, some look unhealthy/stunted and only 2 actually look healthy. And we are supposedly an ag school :(

New Press Box- Doesn't look great but I tried to add proposed renderings (which aren't that exciting IMO) and the size looks off but I can only waste so much time redesigning the stadium- ha.

East side lines would the future steps down the line after years of winning games and high attendance numbers.

Hot dang this is actually pretty good! This would be an ideal situation imo. Get that revenue stream and different types of seating with the beer garden on the north side (especially since the team store or whatever is not really used there anyways) and then keep that character of the grass under the screen that everyone loves. I love how you got that press box in, the only thing different obviously would be that its gonna be taller and wider than this ai version (as you mentioned). I think the final version will create a nice sound barrier to continue making the stadium feel more bowl-like than it already is. That leads me to the only major thing I would hope would look different in my brain which would be to improve concession buildings on the east side to be larger and able to handle more people (maybe design in mind to have stands built on top at some point?

Here is my "master plan" stadium rendering if we joined the mountain west. This is a long term vision but seems like something realistic size wise8aqxitbtp37lm1s3.png

    heres another version too:

I think the first “master plan is pretty realistic for what we can expect. I think a 30k seat stadium would be best. I think at least half of the end zone should be seats and not just a beer garden tho.

With all that money for new stadium / club section, how about roof accommodations for cameras?
  • Akiltopmack99

    I’m assuming that will happen

You know at the end of all the seating enhancements, eventually there's going to have to be an upgrade to the Daktronics stadium board, or maybe add a second board to the North end

Those AI renderings are fun to look at. 's first one was my favorite.

Redwoods are cool but would take too much parking away. Maybe they could be strategically sprinkled into the layout in places?

Cameras shoot from top of the scoreboard and the box on the home side. I'm sure that won't be neglected

Can one of you AI guys ask the robot to create Jdur's first image with an upper deck on the home side?
