I agree that FBS name recognition may increase the value of a degree at sac state slightly, but you know what would do it even more? Elevating their academics. Sac is a decent school but is consistently ranked in bottom 3rd among CSUs (I was surprised how high all the So Cal CSUs were ranked). I know they will likely never surpass schools like cal poly, SDSU, SJSU, but sac should be in the 2nd tier at least. That is what dr wood should focus on. Elevating academics and making sac not a commuter school.
Come Causeway week, Plough is going to have to get the entire team to power down the devices. Wood, Marion and Co. are going to be completely unhinged by that time.
I think, right now, turning FBS for most schools means a Tuesday night game vs Kennesaw State with nobody watching. No high school senior is watching that back east aand saying 'that's the school for me'. I think our approach of slowly building to a MWC spot is the best possible scenario.
Mattos also talked a lot of crap and the coaches would fill the bulletin boards in Hickey with Mattos' dumb statements. Putting up 50+ year after year still didn't shut him up.
Oh my god, it's one thing if fans want to blame unfair reffing but this is big time loser behavior. Maybe... just maybe could it be that you put together one of the most disjointed undisciplined teams in the country after bringing in like 70 new players? Nah, couldn't be them.
It is interesting that he is basically calling out Wood though. Doesn't sound like a guy who is enjoying time at Sac.
Stetson is a small private college located in DeLand, FL, a kind of artsy town out in the swamps between Orlando and Daytona. Locally, they are better known for their law school in Tampa and graduate business school in Celebration (the wealthy Disney community). It’s easy to forget they have an undergraduate campus and athletics. They dropped football in the 1950s and rebooted in the 2010s.
I'm glad the Big Sky saw the importance of Davis/Poly on the last weekend. Hopefully now that Sac ditched, Big Sky will schedule Davis/Poly like this every year.
Two road scrimmages to start the season.
SMU is a wild matchup
JDur is correct, Stetson is a lame ass game
Schedule the Montana game for a noon or 1pm kickoff in September
The rest is very favorable
Sorry to see Sac State go but like Poly at the end
Okay. I think the Big Sky is one of 2 of the best conferences in the FCS but the additions of Utah Tech and SUU dont really add anything. I for one would be much happier if this was an announcement moving to the MW. Now, being in the Big Sky does have its perks though. I am excited for the griz to come here and have cal poly at home. Stetson is a lame ass game.
What about the full slate of Pac12 games? I swear we were promised that was a done deal multiple times in here by a poster who had solid, insider information.
I think the cramps definitely contributed, but lack of real game experience also played a role - that’s where my Mercer reference came in with regard to Pinnack. With experience, things slow down for the QB….without, the game moves really fast.
On paper this should be one of our easier games, especially at home and with Caden back. A “non cramping” Harper should be able to easily handle them as well. I’m assuming Hawk will be there with his son. It will be strange seeing him on the east side wearing something other than blue and gold.
Go Ags!
Take the chalk in all these games. Only potential upset is in Cheney where it will be 55 and potentially wet. I think Sac runs it well enough to handle that but you never know, it takes a while for 71 guys to gel.
The words 6-7 appear repeatedly in the song “Doot Doot” by Skrilla (“song” is being generous, it’s more like the sound of brain cells degenerating). The song gained popularity on TikTok with edits of LaMelo Ball, who is 6’7”, doing tall people things. The phrase “6-7” doesn’t actually mean anything, BUT GenZ and now Gen Alpha types have discovered that yelling the phrase out irritates adults (particularly teachers) partly because it’s disruptive but also because us adults get hung up trying to make sense of it. It falls under “brainrot” - a type of humor among the age group that is intentionally meaningless but sounds catchy enough to become a viral meme. Part of what makes it funny to them is that adults try and fail to understand it when in fact there is just nothing to understand.
